By meeting the standards of the ‘Sustainable Florist Barometer’, Fleurop sets strict requirements on:
- the procurement of flowers and plants (cultivation under good working conditions and with less use of environmentally harmful pesticides)
- environmentally friendly packaging materials (limited use of foil, plastic, and elastic, and no use of wax, glitter, and varnish)
- more sustainable cleaning agents (no chlorine-containing cleaning agents)
- the use of more environmentally friendly floral foam
- waste separation (plastic, green, cardboard, and paper)
- cleaner transport for flower delivery
- a safe working environment that also accommodates people in training and people distanced from the labor market.

Sustainable in every aspect of your bouquet
The ‘Sustainable Florist Barometer’ certification is a mandatory part of Fleurop cooperative membership. The certification is managed by SMK (the independent Foundation for Environmental Certification) and issued by SGS (an independent certification body). Periodic physical inspections are conducted in the shops to ensure that our florists continue to meet the certification guidelines.
Every aspect of a bouquet is relevant, from cultivation to packaging, and from nourishment to delivery. 'Fleurop delivers a good feeling' is our motto. The ‘Sustainable Florist Barometer’ certification guarantees that bouquets are composed and delivered more sustainably by the local Fleurop florists. That gives an extra good feeling!
